Discover Your Distance
My campaign is titled “Discover Your Distance” and uses the hashtag “#allwithin5.”
The concept of the hashtag “#allwithin5” is to give locals and tourists the desire, to explore Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas, with an engaging and action-based hashtag. 5 is a substantial number, but is also not overwhelmingly high, in terms of making people participate by 5 of something. Utah is also known as the Mighty Five, so I thought using the number five was relative to the hashtag meaning as well.
To participate, locals or tourists have to get clever by doing or purchasing something all within 5. For example, someone could visit 5 coffee shops in Salt Lake or mountain bike 5 miles in the Wasatch, they could even purchase a 5 dollar beer or go to local shops all within 5 blocks. Creativity and cleverness are encouraged and ideally will make the campaign more fun. The goal of this campaign is to motivate locals and visitors to participate in events, support local businesses, or try something new, all while positively contributing to the economy of Salt Lake City.
When people actively partake in exploring a city, they are not only enjoying themselves but supporting hardworking people all around them. It comes full circle when a city can have high participation from either locals or visitors. I believe that conscious and active participation means there will always be progress and for a city, progress is what keeps its people and businesses thriving.
